The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a count of people in our communities who are currently homeless.
The PIT Count happens every year, in every state, and usually sometime in the last week of January.
Anyone that currently meets
HUD's
definition of homeless, gets counted and included in the PIT.
Anywhere people are sleeping on the streets, in cars, tents etc. are where volunteers are needed to help count.
Volunteers go to different areas and ask to interview anyone who is currently homeless, filling out a survey for each person they count.
Information from PIT Counts is used to create different services and programs that can help the homeless.
